10 Commandments of Karaoke
I did not get to see Alex Williams’ (That’s @alexcwilliams on twitter) presentation at Ignite Portland 4, entitled “10 Karaoke Commandments” because I was, guess what, at work running a karaoke booth. I just now got around to viewing the presentation on youtube. It’s quite good.
I especially agree that musical breaks are the enemy. So many people don’t take advantage of those long pauses. They just kinda stand there on stage. I’ve been guilty of it several times myself, but that’s usually when I’m being forced to sing cause it’s only 8:45 PM and there are only 3 people there and no slips.
Alex did a great job with this presentation. I thought it was funny, well-timed, and pretty accurate. I only wish I could have seen it in person. I was probably in the middle of watching some ass butcher a rap song or something.
He also slipped a picture of my workplace in among the slides, which is pretty bad ass.
