Some of the pinnacle members of the gay podcast community got into a heated political debate on twitter today. Not that it matters that they’re gay, I just enjoy writing “pinnacle members of the gay podcast community.”
Meanwhile, some people, like tomh, were still using twitter as God intended.
For those of you who don’t already know, archive.org has a large library of old, scanned books, many of them from the Victorian era. They also have a nice browser that lets you page through the books and even save jpeg images of the pages.
Many of them are children’s books, such as the one I found today:
Many of these books contain interesting engravings and very odd assertions. Check out this page about sailors.
I find it a little doubtful that sailors on shore leave have trouble finding ways to spend their time. I’ve heard stories! Speaking of sailors having a good time, here’s a youtube video featuring some sailors who are definitely “very glad to be aboard their ship.” Ahoy!
While reading on wikipedia about Sappho and the island of Lesbos I found that many lesbians actually do visit the island. They’re typically wont to kick it, pilgrimage style, in the town of Eresos, slated as Sappho’s birthplace. But, this led me to an entire realm in this dubious article.
The article, about gay tourism, which fails to cite sources and isn’t necessarily correct, is still interesting because it makes me wonder how international locations are pandering to the gay community, aside from, ya know, not being bigoted dicks and hate crime perpretrators. Are there any tiki-themed tropical roller discos out there?
This sentence in particular made me chuckle a little “Gay tourism practitioners spend $64 billion a year on gay travel.” Gay travel. “Gay tourism practitioner”! So, all you trust fund homos out there jet-setting about and getting your fun on, now you know what to call yourselves!
There is also an entire international gay travel association. Cool! Maybe, one day, there will be nowhere on earth where you can get beheaded for giving a little BJ.
