I Have a Nightmare

One of my roommates got this mug for his birthday last year. It changes colors so all the states turn blue when you fill it with warm liquids. Much like it’s topical relevance, some of the surface has worn away. It’s even worse on the other side, where things get grisly.

The best blog post evar.

November 21, 2008 at 12:34 am (style and culture, the internet blows my fucking MIND) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Today on Portland Mercury’s Blog Town, Stephen Humphrey put up a post with this YouTube video, using six teenage girls watching their choice American Idol lose, to illustrate what we all would have been doing if McCain had won.

More offensive Prop 8 commercials

November 7, 2008 at 1:27 am (a little something for my homos, style and culture) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

Here’s more Yes on 8 garbage, in case you missed it. This one is a little more “upbeat?”

Come on now. What baby wouldn’t love to have a clown (or Gavin Newsome) for a Dad. Furthermore, I guess they’re equating clowns with gay men?

This commercial is a hate crime. Make no mistake about it. This is some atavistic shit.

one bitter pill

November 7, 2008 at 1:00 am (style and culture) (, , , , , , , , )

Out of all the races I’ve been following this election only one turned out with a result I didn’t like. Prop. 8 passed in California by 4%.This despite many people you wouldn’t expect, such as Republican AHNOLD speaking out against it.

I couldn’t vote on it, since I no longer live there, but I did recommend my family vote no. (They say they did.)

The Yes on 8 campaign won with a fearmongering strategy, asserting that schools would be “forced” to teach children about homosexuality and gay marraige, “before the child was old enough to make any judgments for themselves,” among other shameful and transparent tactics, like separating the gay rights struggle from successful civil rights campaigns of the past, as if there’s somehow a difference.

The campaign employed tepid garbage like this to frighten voters:

From the No On 8 website:

“All Americans are harmed when any of us are discriminated against or have our fundamental rights taken away.

Make no mistake, this fight is not over.”

I just hope that, this time, it doesn’t take 8 years for it to be overturned, like it did with Prop 22, which I was also pissed and shocked about.

Teh Eagle is Crying!

Everyone’s got McCain supporters somewhere in their family, right? Someone sent me a FWD with this picture at the bottom and the words, “God Help America”. I feel kinda bad for laughing at it, but, eh, it’s funny. att00008
